Week 3 - Minding Fatlogic

Sunday, January 19th, 2020

Mircea Popescu made a decision in the mike_c case favorable to my client, and my performance in the early going leaves me unsatisfied with my own performance. I started sloppy by taking side questions on the principle first when what needed to be done was getting the MPEx stat to qualify my client's case before doing anything else. Logistics of getting my client paid remains to be done. (more...)

Argentina Getting Pissy With Uruguay Envy

Wednesday, January 15th, 2020

The return of Kirchnerism to Argentina's government means that tensions between Uruguay and Argentina are starting to ratchet up. I feel very comfortable taking Mircea Popescu's 2014 observation that:

Argentina is in no sense a country friendly to the United States.

and going further to say that Argentina, especially the Kirchner-Peronists, run a country in no sense friendly to the world. It's not just that the Argentines aren't friendly to the US government, it's not just that they aren't friendly to other governments generally. It's the full on Obamatard rejection that anyone outside their particular annoited socialist circle could possibly have anything to say about how the world works. (more...)

Week 2 2020 Review - A Very Qntra Week

Monday, January 13th, 2020

This was a very heavy Qntra week with 8 pieces produced. Most notably Trump very nearly made the late Hussein Bahamas relatively competent. There was also the very lulzy leak concerning how little US "Big" anything actually controls their own shit. (more...)

Week 1 2020 Review - Wrestling With NSD After Standing Up TRB Nodes

Sunday, January 5th, 2020

Daily Qntra production continued as I've been wrestling with the NSD name server daemon. With two of the four servers still getting loaded with blockchain, I brought the nameserving orchestra online New Years Eve. Five boxes, the 'anyserver' hosting Qntra alongside a number of aligned blogs was joined by four other servers spread around doing the Bitcoin node thing and other tasks to be determined were all gloriously serving Qntra DNS for two days. Then they stopped, and reversion to the prior setup that didn't shit the bed was done. (more...)

Data Protection Journey Part 2: Add More Heat

Saturday, January 4th, 2020

Last we visited the aluminum hard disk platters they had been soaked, boiled, soaked some more, and boiled some more in Coca Cola Black, an excellent etching agent available at retailers near you. It was time consuming and visible changes to the platters beyond fouling during the initial tomato sauce boil and sanding were unimpressive. Here's a video of something faster: (more...)

Reviewing The Last Plans And New Plans Going Into 2020

Sunday, December 29th, 2019

Reflecting on the plans I published for the end of 2019, I managed to find a piece of work outside the scope of the search I laid out. The datacenter crawl has proceeded slower than I expected it to. Managing the correspondence it creates is more time consuming than I expected. (more...)

Data Center Survey Part 2: Poland, Serbia, Prague With Its Outlying Areas

Friday, December 27th, 2019

These locations were scoured in the early going for the strong recommendations they had collected during Mircea Popescu's Grand European tour, though Serbia's standing has since fallen. (more...)

Data Protection Journey Part 1: Husking, Oxidizing, and Salting

Friday, December 20th, 2019

In accordance with Republican doctrine that the only possible protected intellectual property is the secret, or the trade secret... the small pile of used disks left by Pizarro required destruction. Not being the Republic of "hurr durr secure erase," destruction means physical! Lacking space to do a good barrel burn as well as the lack of a suitable barrel at the ready, alternatives needed to be brought into use to provide the irreplaceable certainty physical destruction offers. It's still a pleasure to read bb prose. Both well researched and well written...
