Twice a year the Uruguayos come together to celebrate their Agricultural Supremacy at the "Expo Prado" held on hallowed grounds called the "Rural de Prado" in the barrio of Prado. During its week and a half long run just about everyone in Uruguay who does anything passed through. Even the politicans all stopped by. But this post isn't about them. Let us today focus the stars:
The first sight and smell encountered upon entering the fairgrounds was the best. Whole splayed lambs becoming asado.
Typical livestock exposition pavilion.
Back in old country the county fair had a substantial number of, mostly dairy, cows. The few token bulls on display in old country were well secured. Here in Uruguay, it is all about the bulls.
Backstage bulls in transit to or from the sales block.
Sheep. Wool is the fiber of the future!
Army Sheep!
Decorated Veteran Sheep.
Goat with kids.
Horse jail. Because while bulls can be dangerous, horses are assholes.
Tiny bird jail. Every single one has a "buy it now" price.
The bunnies that won. These guys merely have a reserve price, offers entertained while the expo lasts.
Edible birds. Unlike in old country this section is all chickens. No turkeys or doves.
Pigs. Particularly whiny pigs. Apparently it isn't polite to issue a SueeEEEEE if you aren't brining them anything to eat.
Vintage taxi, now defunct US marque.
New tractors, wide variety of sizes. John Deere had some stuff on display too, but that was mostly law mowers an branded t-shirts. The distributor of Chinese tractors however left the lifestyle swag at home in favor of bringing hardware.
Lol @ decorated veteran sheep. His buddies became asado back in the day.
Well, kinda how it works. Eat the young ones that don't exemplify the ideal as well while they are still tender.
Your farm girls will all want to ride the Dong Fing.
