Collaborations

Earlier this week the demand for de-turdified Bitcoin related news and journalism surfaced once again. Cazalla showed interest in the project and I pushed him into it by offering to collaborate so long he it was clear he was going to be in charge. Behold Qntra.net Bitcoin's First, Newest, Best, and Oldest news source:

Screenshot of Qntra.net

As the screenshot reveals this journalism venture is being started the right way, by producing journalism and saving concerns about design, revenue, and branding for a time when the site establishes that it viable as an ongoing journalism concern. Putting slick design in front of journalism as a priority is how you get Ezra Klein sleazing his way through ethical matters by reversing himself in the face of outrage, because surrender is easier than consistency.

What this collaboration does not mean is that this blog is going to die. When I started it I did have this naive idea I could single handedly keep pace with Bitcoin news and offer an alternative to CoinDesk and other crap sites all on my own. This single handed journalism empire idea was... tempered within the first week. Over the course of time my output has been sporadic going through bursts and becalmings as I can to accept a personal blog is a great place to editorialize and philosophize and that the Arrington guy who did Tech Crunch was a rare breed. I still have an interest in seeing better news in Bitcoin, so I of course signed on to this. Things that interest me will still go here, but I'll also be writing there.

As an example Darkcoin isn't something I find personally interesting enough to write about here. When some event reveals the depths of Darkcoin's failings, it is newsworthy and really should be written about so people looking for information can get something other than a turdware write up. That's really what this is about. Better information. Maybe this thing builds trust on the level that some other Bitcoin collaborations have.

It's still a pleasure to read bb prose. Both well researched and well written...
